My first day out of Lisbon was crazy trying to stay off the auto piste routes and continue northwards and into the hills. I did eventually end up on the A1 and then a few minutes later kicked off by two police officers. they were nice and suggested a alternative route that would take me to Santarem, my next stop. my route so far has been lisbon-santarem-coimbra-celorico-macedo-braganca, were i am currently. not that i have slept at each of these towns, just a rough guide as to were iv been and the places in between. now looking back on just a few days and inching twards spain, time is running out for portugal. it may be a small country but portugal packs it in, and in a very traditional way.
